Using the double spiral structure as a base we can create a lamp attaching some very simple elements. The modularity of the system allows a vast array of iterations. The long life expectancy of this technology, 10 years, makes this construction honest and relevant. The lamps present fully articulated parts in a vast array of iterations in different materials from wood veneer to a mirrored plastic/wood sandwich material developed in studio. The concept was selected to represent Spain for BID12, Iberoamerican Biennale of Design. Materials: energy saver bulb, steel eyelets, nylon ties. The LED's converter are kept hidden inside a steel box that also serves as host for the extra length of cable that this lamp features. Based on LED technology, the inner logic and aesthetics of this system defines the construction of this product. It also embraces its natural lightness and linear character. A run of the mill aluminum mounting plate serves as a core for the piece, and the addition of a few simple elements completely redefines its nature. The aluminum plate remains unmodified. This type of approach comes from the fact that LED lights will outlive the lamp hosting them. Given the time it could be turned into another kind of lamp with the addition of new parts. Lightweight Beam is the first iteration of a project in development, where the same basic system of mounting plate+led+lens combined with different kits will result in a diverse family of lamps.
